When I started collecting vintage garden items like metal chairs, stools, bistro tables and candle lit chandeliers, I had no idea that it would soon grow into a passion and then a business. My style revolves around contrast. Old and new, metal and lace, shiny and dull and concrete and rust.

In the coming days, weeks and months, you'll be getting a look into the rusty world of Chris Brown. Brown, a graphic designer, art director/stylist and collector gave birth to a new phase in his career - home and garden design. Inspired my his father's love of the outdoors and gardening and his aunt's passion for all things vintage, Brown naturally fell into a lifestyle and business he now calls Urban Prairie. "The look and feel of Urban Prairie is country meets modern" says Brown, "Adding a antique next to or on top of something modern is the new look for me. People are very surprised by the outcome. The worn, sometimes peeling paint or rusty surface of vintage items add charm to a modern surrounding. Rust is my friend."
